Description
This is a Tsunami Information Statement to inform the public and authorities that, based on current data, there is no tsunami threat to Antigua and Barbuda following the recent seismic activity.
Preliminary Earthquake Parameters:
• Magnitude: 6.8
• Origin Time and Date: 10:10 AST (1410 UTC) April 3, 2025
• Coordinates: 52.7° North, 32.1° West
• Depth: 19 km/12 miles
• Location: Reykjanes Ridge, Atlantic
Evaluation:
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 occurred in the Northern Atlantic at 10:10 am on Thursday, April 03, 2025
Based on all available data, there is no significant tsunami threat from this earthquake. However, there is a very small possibility of tsunami waves along the Atlantic coasts located nearest the epicentre.
