THIS IS PART OF A SCHEDULED TSUNAMI PREPAREDNESS EXERCISE. THERE IS NO ACTUAL TSUNAMI THREAT. This is a Tsunami Warning Bulletin to inform the public and disaster emergency management authorities that, based on current data, the threat has passed for Antigua and Barbuda based on the recent seismic activity.

Preliminary Earthquake Parameters:
• Magnitude: 8.0
• Origin Time and Date: 11:00 AST (15:00 UTC) March 20, 2025
• Coordinates: 18.2° North, 75.4° West
• Depth: 25 km/16 miles
• Location: Jamaica region
EXERCISE…EXERCISE… EXERCISE…THIS IS A SCHEDULED CARIBE WAVE TSUNAMI EXERCISE
Evaluation:
• An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.0 occurred near Jamaica at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 20, 2025
• Based on all available data, hazardous tsunami threat from this earthquake has passed and there is no further threat.
Tsunami Threat Forecast, Updated:
The tsunami threat has now largely passed.
Tsunami Observations:
Tsunami heights in the range of 0.3 to 1 metre (1 to 3 feet) have been measured by coastal and or deep-ocean gauges. The maximum tsunami height is measured with respect to the normal tide level.
Instrucciones
Recommended Actions:
• Persons located near impacted coastal areas should stay alert for information and follow instructions from local authorities.
• Remain observant and exercise normal caution near the sea.
Potential Impacts:
• Minor sea level fluctuations of up to 1 foot above and below the normal tide may continue over the next few hours.

This will be the final statement issued for this event unless new information is received or the situation changes.
